Things to Do in Indian Trail, North Carolina

Nexus Dental Post

Identify and build a sense of community with the people of Indian Trail. This is what awaits you on your trip to this charming town in North Carolina.

Start with uncovering our rich history as a path for traders traveling along the “Indian Trail” that ran from Petersburg, Virginia to the Indian settlement. Visit several cultural centers and museums to learn about our culture and history. Enjoy a day with your family and friends in our recreational parks and celebrate local holidays and festivals that are uniquely an Indian Trail experience.

The #1 dentist in Indian Trail welcomes you to Indian Trail, NC! To make your trip memorable, we thought of providing you with this little guide on what to do when visiting in Indian Trail.

Unwind at Indian Trail Parks

You travel as a sort of refuge, to unwind and relax from the busy life. That is exactly what the Indian Trail parks provide to the community. There’s something for everyone when you visit three of our largest parks–the Crossing Paths, Crooked Creek and Chestnut Square.

These parks offer an assortment of outdoor and recreational activities. For someone who’s looking to soul search or immerse in the beauty of nature, there are walking paths and trails that allow you to have your “me time”. For children and youth, there are playgrounds and sports activities to exhaust their energy.

For adults, there are fitness classes and environmental seminars you can participate in. The elderly and disabled can equally enjoy using a wheelchair to stroll around the parks. Even children with special needs have a playground designed for them at Crooked Creek Park.

You can also witness local and community-wide events at the Crossing Paths Park where the amphitheater and multi-purpose areas are located.

Currently, these local parks are open to the public but there are still some amenities that remain closed. Most 2020 events were also canceled due to COVID. The town hall will provide announcements regarding when and if businesses and community events are reopening here.

Have a Taste of Indian Trail Art and Culture

Learn about local art, culture and tradition through the Piedmont Cultural Arts Festival. Held annually in October, the festival showcases the art, music, dance and food of North Carolina’s Piedmont Region.

If you are an art lover or have that artistic inclination, then the Indian Trail Cultural Arts Center is the right place for you. Their galleries highlight Indian Trail works or art by classic and contemporary artists. The center also offers art classes and camps for children to inspire their creativity and love for arts and crafts.

Unfortunately, the Piedmont Cultural Arts Festival activities for this year were already canceled due to COVID-19. The Indian Trail Cultural Arts Center remains close to the public.

Play and Skate

Do you love extreme sports? We have them! Less than a mile north of Indian Trail is the Mighty Sports Center, an extreme sports park where you and your friends can play dodgeball, paintball, air-soft, laser tag, human foosball and go-karts.

It is best to celebrate family day at Kate’s Skating, especially on a Friday. You can enjoy the family package that already includes admission, skate rentals, group-sized pizza and drinks. Kids will surely enjoy skating and can participate in skating lessons, too. Kate’s Skating is also a venue for birthday parties and children summer camps.

Another well-known skating facility is the Extreme Ice Center where you can also host your party while watching figure skaters and ice hockey players. You can also enjoy public skating, learn hockey and figure skating through classes and camps.

Currently, Mighty Sports Center and Kate’s Skating are closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions, while Extreme Ice Center is open on a limited capacity and is strictly observing safety precautions.

Family Fun and Festivals

Indian Trail is a great place for families. No wonder it is hailed among the Top Ten “Best Places for Families” in the U.S. by the Family Circle Magazine.

Many festivals are geared toward families, especially children, that includes a Family Fun Day, Fourth of July celebration, Halloween Candy Crawl and the most-awaited Christmas Festival. The Family Fun Day is held every June at Crossing Paths Park which provides free rides and games for children. The Christmas celebration includes a parade and a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony.

On some Fridays of Spring and Summer, families and friends can enjoy the town-sponsored Sunset Series Movie Nights and other recreational activities.

If you want more movies, watch the latest at Sun Valley 14 Cinemas. They have a multi-screen modern theater, great sound system, comfortable seats and a 3D option. All at an affordable price. There is a special discount every Tuesday where a movie pass only costs 6 USD.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, most of the events and festivities were already canceled to avoid mass gathering. Sun Valley 14 remains close to date.
