Mercedes Duncan, DMD
From a very young age, Dr. Duncan has had a strong interest and passion for the dental profession due to very positive visits to her dentist while growing up.
After completing her BS (Magna Cum Laude) in Biology and minor in Chemistry, she earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in Kentucky. Dr.
Duncan completed her residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine.
During her time at Dental School, Dr. Duncan held a leadership position as Vice President of the Forensic Dentistry Study Club, and was also a peer tutor for students in various subjects.
Dr. Duncan has been involved in a wide range of community service such ECU Smile for Veterans, where dental treatment was provided for the local veteran population, and also at the Blue Ridge Dental Clinic in Cashiers NC to provide care for the underserved population.
Her hobbies include dancing, outdoor activities, and pilates. Dr. Duncan’s passion for dance began at the age of six when she began dancing competitively.
She continued on to become captain of her college dance team at Western Kentucky University, and she continues to teach and choreograph in the community.
